I Met Other Golfers

Some of the websites that you will see pop up more and more this year will be niche social networks. The big dogs like MySpace, and Facebook are more of a general social network, but http://www.stracka.com drills down into a specific market, in which in this case, golfers. It’s a A Social Network for Golfers.
My experience with golf has only been with video games, or on the driving range. When I first visited the website, it had a good first impression on me. It didn’t look too overwhelming with marketing and ads. The layout and color scheme is very clean and it appeals to the golfing scene. Navigation areas are obvious, and its features seem robust and should appeal to even the beginner of golfers. It’s free, so I gave it a shot. It took less than a minute to sign up and set up my profile. I can upload photos, create a blog, participate in forums, and message other members. It first glance, and after a good hour or so of exploring the website, it looks as though it was built with the user in mind. I applaud that.
The features which I like are: Google Maps mashups with golf course data and contact information, local golf course search, sharing score cards, ranking of popular golf courses, and most importantly meeting other golfers you can golf with at various courses. You can’t get that anywhere else.
